How do I pursue a career in architecture?

I'm currently a freshman at University California Irvine, and I had been thinking about becoming an architect (even before I had entered the school). I decided recently that I want to transfer out of my school to pursue my dream of becoming an architect. Which school would I transfer into? What kind of degree would be my goal?
