What do you think of this experience that I had at a church?

My friend and I recently took our children to a church that I had heard some people raving about. Great church? Maybe if you don't have children. We walked in and immediately someone came over and asked me if my child was going to the Sunday school. I said no and she pointed to an area of the church where we could sit. It was a very small area and there were only a few people who had children with them. I read on the church leaflet that the main area of the church "is reserved for adults and children who are in 5th grade or older". Children younger were apparently supposed to be in either the Sunday school or nursery. Eventhough they allowed us to sit where we did, they made us feel completely uncomfortable. Our children were quiet except for when my friend's 5 month-old cooed for literally 5 -10 seconds. Then one of the ushers tapped her on the shoulder asking her to go to out of the main area. Are these people nazis or what? I thought everyone was welcome at church!?
