Training a dog to hunt?

i have a yellow lab and i got his stuff clipped and he hunts like there is no tommorow...go to borders or any book store and find a book that explains how to train...first make sure he knows the basic commands like sit stay come and fetch it up then worry about the whistle and all that other stuf training a dog to its fullest extent could take a year or two
