Trouble with friends, how can I help them?

My friends who were until recently a couple were supposed to be moving into my house with me next month. However, they have broken up in quite a bad way, and I'm currently looking after one of them until she moves back to London. Should I encourage her to stay here in Brighton? And how should I deal with them moving in? Do I give the room to him, or her?
