Why are people so pushy?

Two weeks ago some Jehovah Witness's came to my house. My husband made the mistake of answering the door and proceeds to listen to their banter and take their literature. He didn't want to be rude he says. So they came back last week. I told them he wasn't home and I wasn't interested and closed the door. Well they showed up again and I let them know again I wasn't interested and they asked me if I was speaking for my husband as well and I told them yes. They tell me they don't believe me and that they wanted to return to here it from him. Do you believe these people?
