Where to start off in a restaurant kitchen?

I'm looking around for a job in a restaurant kitchen. I have very light experience preping fruits and vegetables from my current job as well as experience baking but nothing at a restaurant level. If i wanted to land a job as a pantry or prep cook with no experience how would I start off? Should I apply at a dishwasher and hope to move up?
